The heater core is a small heat exchanger that transfers warmth from the engine's coolant into the air blown into the cabin. Coolant heated by the engine is routed through the heater circuit; the blower pushes air across the core's fins, warming it before it enters the car. The same loop also relieves the engine of part of its excess heat — making the heater a member of both the comfort system and the engine's thermal balance.
The Usual Faults
