What does Tyre & Rim Services involve at Alpay Servis?
Tyre replacement, wheel balancing and rim repair under one roof: our tyre and rim services cover the components that directly affect your car's grip, braking safety and ride comfort.
Why Tyres and Rims Belong Together
Tyres are the only part of your car that touches the road, and the rims are the structure that carries that contact. A problem in one directly affects the other: a bent rim causes irregular tyre wear, while a tyre run at the wrong pressure puts extra load on the rim. That is why we treat tyre and rim work as a single service.
What the Service Involves
The car first goes through a visual assessment. Tread depth, wear pattern, tyre age and sidewall deformation are checked, and the rims are examined for cracks, bends and impact marks. Where replacement is needed, the tyres are dismounted, new ones fitted and every wheel is balanced. Finally the pressures are set to the values your car requires and any pressure sensors are checked for correct operation.
What Neglect Leads To
Worn tyres lengthen braking distances and increase the risk of aquaplaning on wet roads. Unbalanced wheels cause steering vibration and premature wear in bearings and suspension parts. A bent rim used unnoticed can permanently damage the internal structure of the tyre — damage that is not always visible from the outside.
Booking
If you notice wear, vibration or pressure loss, you can reach us through the online appointment form or by phone; your car is assessed at our workshop in Bornova, İzmir.
What Does This Service Cover?
- Tread depth and wear pattern inspection
- Tyre removal, fitting and wheel balancing
- Rim inspection for cracks, bends and impact marks
- Setting tyre pressures to the correct values for your car
- Valve and tyre pressure sensor (TPMS) condition check
- Assessment of seasonal tyre change needs
Signs You May Need This
- Vibration in the steering wheel at certain speeds
- Uneven or one-sided wear on the tyres
- The car pulling to one side while driving
- A visible bend or crack on one of the rims
- Tyre pressure dropping again and again
Frequently Asked Questions
When should wheel balancing be done?
Balancing is recommended whenever a tyre is removed or replaced, and any time you feel vibration through the steering wheel or the floor. Small weights on the rim are adjusted so each wheel spins evenly, which protects the suspension and prevents irregular tyre wear.
Can a bent rim be repaired safely?
Minor bends can often be corrected, but rims with cracks or structural damage may not be safe to repair and are usually replaced. The decision is made only after the rim has been taken off the vehicle and inspected properly.
Do all four tyres have to be replaced at once?
Not always. Tyres are ideally replaced in axle pairs so both sides wear evenly. Replacing all four makes sense when tread depths differ significantly, since mixed grip levels can unsettle the car under braking and in corners.
Why does tyre pressure matter so much?
Incorrect pressure changes the tyre's contact patch: too little causes shoulder wear, heat build-up and higher fuel consumption; too much wears the centre and reduces grip. Correct pressure keeps wear even and the car predictable.
